Christmas Service. I brought 2 unattending folks, 4 attending another church folks and my bride and me. We all thought the giving section was repetitive... Brian repeated himself 3 or 4 times.
All of us felt the video after was guilting manipulation. Of course Paul wasn:t afraid to guilt the Corinthians to give, but really, at the Christmas service when you probably have more visitors the members? I bet Bill Hybels, who was an influence at one thime, might have a comment.
Pastor Brian was a real downer. His focus on sin and human suffering was not appropriate for families that travelled from all over the US to spend a joyous Christmas celebrating Christ' birth with their families. Further, after fighting a horrible reaction to the COVID vaccine for 3 years that resulted in me nearly dying a couple of times, Brian's message cound not have been a bigger miss. Does he have a clue?
Sean, as usual was Great and my grandson loved the presentation. He is 4 and this was his second time in church.
I get Jesus was born as a sacrifice for me. But I wonder if Jesus would be happy about focusing on the sacrifice over the the joy that came (1) after 700 years of God not speaking to His people, (2) the beginning of the new covenant of love for God and each other and (3) the joy that gentiles were adopted into God's family.
Scripture says there is a season for everything and there is also a good word for every season. Christmas is a season of joy. Our words should reflect that. Brian's word was for the easter season. Isn't it interesting though, that our liturgical seasons are opposite of the lunar seasons?
Excellent church and wonderful resource to the community. It can feel a little bit large and intimidating the first visit, but if you want to just check it out, it’s also relatively easy to slip in and out because it’s so big. If you want to feel smaller, make sure you get involved and serve on a ministry team. Excellent worship, excellent preaching!
Love this place. It’s quiet a drive but worth it. It’s beautiful inside and out. Their greeters are very welcoming, and they have coffee and donuts for you if you would like. My daughter goes into their 2nd grade worship center while the adults enjoy their service. The Bathrooms are clean at all times. Their gift shop is so cute, they have notebooks and all kinds of cute things. At the end of the service their greeters and pastor are standing in the lobby for prayers or other information you would need. If you’re looking, look no more and give this place a try. You won’t regret it.
While some of the sermons from the assistant pastors are little iffy (I don't know how you can say the pharisees weren't evil when Jesus repeatedly told his disciples to beware of them and they would treat outcasts like garbage plus plot to murder Jesus and even Lazarus. I mean they were definitely evil and needed salvation), I must say it is a very welcoming church to many including people with disabilities and there's some good people there. I highly recommend a visit or to come there to catch a sermon from the main pastor.
We've gone to Calvary Community Church for about 3 years and we really love it. I'm amazed at how active Calvary is in the community, they have so many activities and outreaches. They really are shining a light, and we are blessed to be able to attend.
The volunteers are wonderful. The staff is a delight to work with. Please consider donating here
Their outreach is amazing.
Took some Complimentary Spring Spec photos for MS Musicians 2022.
I have been under the teaching of pastor shawn in WV at Bible center since I was a child and being able to see his growth touched my heart. Now living in LA and seeing him truly spread the word of the gospel is something that is such a joy to me that I didn’t know or expect to see. Just because it was such a wonderful surprise to see such a great pastor in such a transitional time. But it has been so good. He’s truly gifted as are the rest of the pastors of this church. Couldn’t recommend a better place for anyone new or well versed.
Kari Jobe The Blessing Westcoast was great n anointed. Beautiful church.
Great church, preaching the Bible, friendly staff and members, great missions and community support.
